# Plans and trial

> How the seven-day free trial works, how plans are sized by active Table Pairs, and what happens when access expires or a plan changes.

Your General Validation plan belongs to your Organization. Every Organization
starts on a free trial, and an Owner buys a plan from Billing, either
through [Microsoft Marketplace](https://docs.generalvalidation.com/administration/marketplace.md)
(shown in the app as Azure Marketplace) or
[directly through Stripe](https://docs.generalvalidation.com/administration/billing.md). Subscription details and billing
actions are available only to Owners; Contributors and Readers see the
current plan and its usage. See [Sign-in and team access](https://docs.generalvalidation.com/administration/access.md) for
roles.

## Free trial

The trial starts when you activate your Organization by naming it and clicking
Start 7-day trial. It lasts seven days, allows up to five active Table
Pairs, and needs no credit card. While it runs, Billing shows
Free trial active, the plan Free trial, and the date under
Trial ends.

When the trial ends, Billing shows Free trial ended. You keep access to
the app: members can still sign in, your Table Pairs, Tests, Runs, and Results
stay readable, and a Run that already started can finish and record its
Result. Creating a Table Pair or starting a new Run needs an active plan and
otherwise fails with
[Active entitlement required](https://docs.generalvalidation.com/errors/fabric.entitlement_required). Trial
expiry does not delete your Organization, its configuration, or any resource
in your Fabric tenant.

Buying a plan during the trial does not restart it. Eligible subscription access
replaces the trial after provider confirmation. Self-service Stripe Checkout
requires a paid invoice; a signed invoiced order can start service under agreed
[payment terms](https://docs.generalvalidation.com/administration/billing.md#enterprise-annual-agreements). If a
subscription ends, only the remainder of the original unexpired trial can apply.

## Plans

Plans are sized by active Table Pairs. A Table Pair counts toward your limit
while it is active; archived pairs do not. Deleting a Table Pair archives it,
which frees the slot and keeps its Tests, Runs, and Results. An archived pair
cannot receive new Tests or Runs, though a Run already in flight finishes and
imports its Result.

| Plan | Active Table Pairs | Billing | Where to buy |
| - | - | - | - |
| 20 Table Pairs | 20 | \$12,000 USD per year, paid upfront | [Marketplace](https://docs.generalvalidation.com/administration/marketplace.md) or [direct purchase](https://docs.generalvalidation.com/administration/billing.md) |
| 50 Table Pairs | 50 | \$20,000 USD per year, paid upfront | [Marketplace](https://docs.generalvalidation.com/administration/marketplace.md) or [direct purchase](https://docs.generalvalidation.com/administration/billing.md) |
| Enterprise | Agreed capacity | Negotiated annual terms | [Contact us](mailto:support@generalvalidation.com) |

For current pricing, see the [pricing page](https://generalvalidation.com/pricing/)
and the
[Microsoft Marketplace listing](https://marketplace.microsoft.com/en-us/product/generalvalidation.general-validation-platform),
and review the price shown at checkout before you buy. A private offer can have
a different agreed price. Plans cover General
Validation only: Runs use your existing Fabric capacity, which General
Validation does not purchase or resize.

An Organization uses one billing provider for its subscription. Marketplace
subscriptions are managed through Microsoft. Direct subscriptions are managed
through Stripe; contact support for plan changes and cancellation under your
agreement. Coordinate a provider change with support before buying again.
For more than 50 Table Pairs or custom terms, contact
[support@generalvalidation.com](mailto:support@generalvalidation.com) about
an enterprise agreement; see
[Enterprise annual agreements](https://docs.generalvalidation.com/administration/billing.md#enterprise-annual-agreements).

## Usage and downgrades

Billing shows your Current plan with the Plan name, Table Pairs
as the number used out of the plan limit, and Trial ends or Access ends.
Owners also see the Subscription card and available purchase or management
actions. Access follows the confirmed subscription and agreed payment terms.

| Billing shows | Meaning |
| - | - |
| Free trial active | The trial is running; you can create Table Pairs and start Runs. |
| Product access active | An eligible subscription is active, including a signed invoiced order within its agreed credit window. This label is not a payment receipt. |
| Free trial ended, Product access inactive or Product access expired | No eligible subscription or trial remains; existing work stays readable, and creating Table Pairs or starting Runs is blocked. |
| Product access cancelled | The subscription was cancelled; contact an Owner about restoring eligible access. |
| Product access needs attention | Contact support. |

Creating a Table Pair at the limit fails with
[Table Pair limit reached](https://docs.generalvalidation.com/errors/fabric.pair_limit_reached); the Table Pairs
page says how many Table Pairs your plan supports and links to
View plan and Table Pair usage. Delete a Table Pair you no longer need to
archive it and free the slot, or ask an Owner to change the plan.

A downgrade keeps every existing Table Pair and its Results, and you can still
run the pairs you have. Billing then notes that your Organization is above
the plan's Table Pair limit and that existing Table Pairs are preserved;
creating a new pair resumes once the active count is below the new limit.
Moving to a larger plan changes only the limit; your Table Pairs, Tests, Runs,
and Results stay in place.
