# General Validation

> Set up your workspace, connect Azure, and reconcile source and target data.

General Validation checks whether the data that landed agrees with the data you
intended to land. Use the hosted application to discover datasets, define tests,
and review outcomes. Validation reads and compute run in your Azure environment.

## Your data boundary

General Validation hosts the application and stores configuration, schemas,
run status, verdicts, counts, and artifact pointers. Source and target rows,
credentials, exact result values, deltas, and row evidence stay in your Azure
environment. When the browser displays detailed results, it reads them directly
from your storage with your Microsoft identity.
